Disneyland is a place where everyone can fulfill their dreams. It is not only for kids or adults that like the adrenaline rush of the thrilling rides. Here's a secret: people with disabilities could enjoy the park too!
No disability will hinder you from enjoying the happiest place on earth. Whether it be a hearing, seeing or mobility disability, Disneyland has something in store for you. Here are some of the sights, rides and attractions that are user friendly for people with disabilities.
Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters
Join Buzz Lightyear as you both blast off towards "infinity and beyond" in a very intergalactic and interactive battle against Evil Emperor Zurg. Pilot your Star Cruiser and hold the universes fate in your hands through treacherous terrain as you zap targets along the way to rack up more points.
You fire hand-held moveable laser cannons, with the choice of playing along with the help of other Space Rangers or having a personal best record. Get a higher Space Ranger rank as you score more throughout the game.
If you are using an Electric Convenience Vehicle, you will be transfer to wheelchair, which they will provide to you. This is so you can enter the attraction and transfer to the ride vehicle and/or sit. You can transfer yourself or ask for the help of your companion. Once in the wheelchair, you will enter via the standard procedure and go. There a Cast Member will provide you boarding instructions.
For people with hearing disabilities, handheld captioning devices are available for this attraction. Simply visit Guest Relations and receive a receiver.
Disneyland Railroad - Main Street, U.S.A.
This attraction is one of the must-see in Disneyland and they make sure that everyone gets to ride. Ride the train and see Disneyland in a jiffy. You can disembark and experience different attractions along the way such to Mickey's Toontown, New Orleans Square, or Tomorrowland.
However, if you have a mobility disability, there are a lot of platforms and steps that you need to manage. Nevertheless, it is still accessible via wheel chair. Wheelchairs will be folded and can be placed onboard. Other stations such as Mickey's Toontown, New Orleans Square, and Tomorrowland are all accessible via ramp. For hearing problems, you can receive a hand held captioning device by going to the Guest Relations.
Fantasmic
This pyrotechnic musical would definitely leave you in awe as you see Mickey Mouse battle with a 45-ft fire breathing dragon. For wheelchair access, you can ask any of the Cast Members and they will be more than happy to assist you to the special wheel chair viewing area that is locate in front of the Golden Horseshoe.
Pirates Of The Caribbean
Sail and battle it out in the Caribbean through this pirate inspired ride. However, service animals aren't recommended for this attraction since they can be scared by the effects. If you are using a wheelchair or an Electric Convenience Vehicle, you need to be able to transfer to the ride vehicle to experience this ride.
Honey, I Shrunk the Audience
Experience the world as a miniature in this amazing 3D attraction. You can remain on your wheelchair or your Electric Convenience Vehicle throughout the show. To enter, you will use the standard procedure and designated doors. Because of limited seating, you could be seated next to only one party member. Others in your party will be seated as closely as possible.
For hearing problems, assistive listening devices that amplify the audio can be used here and are available at the Guest Relations. Guest-activated captioning is available on various preshow video monitors for this attraction. You can get a Reflective Captioning system for the show. Contact any of the Cast Members at the location and ask for assistance.
Haunted Mansion
For fun-filled adventure thrills, visit the Haunted Mansion. See spooks of all kinds as you explore the mansion. If you have a wheelchair or ECV transfer to the ride vehicle is necessary to experiences this attraction. Enter through the standard way and wait for the Cast Member on the front porch to tell you more about the boarding instructions. A specially designed vehicle for your convenience is provided. Handheld Captioning devices are also available for this attraction.
